U17 Boys Group A Prelim - 28 Feb, 2015
It was a really long day for the boys, but they did really well and on another day we could have won most of our games. All were close, except perhaps the last game, and we made all our opponents work hard. We now have the plate to compete for in Manchester at the end of April. I will be in touch for availability once I know the actual dates, and coaches have made selections.
See below for all results, scorers & majors. Domma & James were equal top scorers with 6 each, and I must mention Jamie Heywood, in goal, who gave our players a boost with his heroics defending his net. I will also highlight Matthew, our Major King, with 12, which shows just how committed he was!
Thanks also to Jean-Luc & Andrew for their tactics and set-up of the team for the games.

Warrender players excel at ASA Championships
Warrender supplied 10 out of the 13 players who recently competed in the ASA under 15 Championships in Manchester under the banner of Team Caledonia. They came an extremely credible 4th place out of 11 teams.
They were drawn in a very tough group against Sutton & Cheam, Sedgefield, Invicta and Cheltenham. Their first group game ended in a 6-6 draw against Sutton & Cheam. Next came eventual winners Sedgefield who beat Caledonia 8-3 in the second group game. Caledonia then put 10 goals past Cheltenham to win 10-3. In the final group game they scored even more goals coming out winners by 15-4 against Invicta. In the semi final they lost to a very strong Sheffield team 10-2 which meant they were to play Watford in the bronze medal match. This was one of the closest fought games all day, but unfortunately Caledonia lost 7-6.All of the teams can be very proud of their efforts during the day.
The Warrender players were: Adam Heywood, Lewis Barrow, Lewis Pritchett, Jonathan Roberts, Rhuari Stuart, Domanique Zahra, Joseph O’Boyle, Fedor Gorobets, Rowan Gallacher and John McKenzie. The Coach and Team Manager were Jean-Luc Zahra and Nick Barrow respectively who both also represent Warrender.
The great results on the day were rounded off when Jonathan Roberts was awarded the Most Valuable Player prize.
Well done to Warrender player Caitlin McRobbie who was part of the Caledonia Ladies team that secured their 2015 British Water Polo League Division 1 status recently.
